If you have been thinking of getting the original iPhone X, you should know that Apple is now offering three new and different “X” iPhone models. Two of them are comparable the iPhone X, just in a different size. The other is meant for those who prefer a lower price category.

The iPhone XR

At a starting price of $749 (for 64 GB of storage), this smartphone is actually the lower cost version of the iPhone X. It shares many of the same specs and the design of the more expensive phones. Apple offers the XR in six bright colors and it has a smaller battery than the iPhone XS and XS Max. If you are a loyal iPhone customer, the lower price may tempt you to purchase this model.

The iPhone XS and XS Max

The inside components of these two models are almost the same. They both include a 12 MP camera, better speakers, and the option to put two sim cards in one phone. This is a great perk for people who have to switch from a personal device to one for work. International travelers will appreciate this feature as well. You can power your complex augmented reality apps, speed up Face ID, and load games faster with the new A12 bionic chip included in these models. Both phones have better battery life and beautiful OLED screens as well.

The difference between the two models is size. The XS Max is technically the same size as an iPhone 8 Plus. The screen stretches from edge-to-edge and gives you the impression that the whole phone is larger than the X.

Apple boasts a better camera on these models than the one on the iPhone X. Some fans think that this is the real star of these new iPhone models. They have a new feature named Smart HDR. It shoots a four frame buffer, taken at different settings and different exposures. Smart HDR blends them all together to make a detailed shot. These smartphones have algorithms that are designed to detect human faces and bodies. Red-eye reduction kicks in automatically also.

You can adjust the bokeh effect (the depth of a portrait mode photo) after you take the image. This gives you the ability to have complete control over blur. A slider in the Photos app gives you the ability to edit your shots as well.
